  • Ignition - Primary & secondary system principles.
  • Test Equipment - primary & secondary connections.
  • Ignition waveforms review & interpretation.
  • Inductive & Hall type systems & testing.
  • Electronic mapped ignition, knock control & testing.
  • Distributor-less ignition & test procedures.

Attainment:

On successful completion of the course, the trainee will be able to:

  • Carry out testing to determine serviceability of ignition systems & components.
  • Accurately diagnose systems faults & the corrective action for system repair.
  • Interpret typical ignition oscilloscope displays of primary & secondary circuit performance as an aid to system diagnosis.

Prerequisites and recommended reading prior to attending course:

Successful completion of the VSE1, Essential Test Procedures course is a prerequisite to attending the VSG2  course, a good understanding of oscilloscopes is also preferable, so attendance of the VSTD9 Oscilloscope course is an advantage.
